WHAT is a Home Educator's College Fair?

JOIN US . . . Come to the Home Educator's College Fair, developed exclusively for

  • home educated students in middle and senior high school

  • and their parents.

  • PLUS: If you have known student that have already graduated from high school and are thinking of college or will be transferring to another college, this would be a good opportunity for them as well!  All home educating families are welcome and encouraged to attend.

At the Fair, you will be able to:

  • Explore options for post high school.
  • Attend workshops designed for both students and parents.
  • Visit with representatives from across the state to discuss their colleges, discover the options available to students and how to plan the high school years accordingly

WHO will be at the fair?

Preview the YEAH website (College Fair Exhibitors) for complete and up-to-date listing of colleges participating in the 2010 fair; From this website you can also link to the college websites and become familiar with their programs and be better able to discuss your student's needs when you meet them at the fair.

WHY go to the fair?  Do you fit into any of these categories?

In speaking to parents and students who are now in college, their ONE REGRET is not starting to explore college options sooner.  This is a great opportunity to learn about colleges--public and private, two year an four year, academic and technical.

  • NOT INTERESTED in academics?

    • Colleges have many hands-on, skills oriented programs.  You might even be able to start them as a high school junior.

  • Are you a PARENT wondering how to PAY for college?

    • Will your son or daughter need financial aid to attend a college or university?

    • Attend a workshop just for you.  At Financial Aid/Scholarship workshop you will learn exactly how the state and federal governments determine your eligibility for Pell and state grants and how colleges and universities "package" a financial aid award.  Don't lose out on this opportunity!

  • Are you a 9th or 10th GRADER thinking of PSEO?

  • Are you a HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT?

    • Do you worry about being prepared for college?

    • Do you wonder if you will know ho to navigate through the first year of college?

    • The first year of college often determines whether a student will be successful in getting a college degree.

    • Attend a workshop just for you on how to make that first year successful!

  • Are you a MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT who thinks that college is too far in the future?

    • Did you know that what you are doing NOW can greatly influence whether you go to college--and how successful you will be?

    • Attend a workshop just for you to find out the most direct way between preparing for high school and preparing for college.

  • Are you a FORMER HOME EDUCATED STUDENT who didn't go to college, but is thinking of going now?

  • Are you in college, and ready to TRANSFER?

  • Does a college education prepare you for the JOB MARKET?

    • Today, many employers are expecting their employees to have some college training, skills and/or knowledge.

  • Are you knowledgeable about your CAREER CHOICES and prepared for those?
